We would greatly welcome peer or self-nominations for a three-year term on the Staff Advisory Council. Several individual’s terms are expiring so we are seeking nominations from the following neighborhoods: Dining, Facilities, Academic Departments, Central Administration, and the Library.
Serving on the Council is an opportunity to meet with engaged staff members from across Williams to make important contributions to our community, to guide the development of policies that impact everyone, and to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes to make Williams work. This is your chance to help your colleagues from across the campus have a voice and make a difference.
What is the Staff Advisory Council?
The Staff Advisory Council is a group of staff members from across the college that meets monthly with Human Resources leadership to research, discuss, and provide feedback on institutional policies and programs. Outside of monthly meetings, Council members act as ambassadors, sharing information and identifying issues of importance to staff. The Council also collaborates with HR staff to organize annual staff appreciation events. Becoming a member of the Staff Advisory Council provides the opportunity to meet colleagues from across the campus and engage in initiatives that impact all staff at Williams.
Who is on the Staff Advisory Council?
The council is comprised of 18 members, 3 from each of 6 “neighborhoods,” groups of departments that are roughly similar in size and function. Visit our page to see current membership.
What’s on the agenda for this year?
The Council will continue their work in reviewing policy related to the religious and cultural holidays, a new staff recognition and rewards program, and as always, staff appreciation events… just to name a few highlights.
What’s Involved?
The Staff Advisory Council meets just once a month for an hour, typically on a Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. We may also ask for volunteers to participate in subcommittees and help us with events, as it fits in with your interest and schedule. We also ask that you share information from the meetings broadly with your neighborhood, and get their input on issues that are of concern for them.
